When I flew out to San Francisco, I was only out for the week. I thought I'd see the sights - the Golden Gate Bridge, Muir Woods, Ocean Beach - and just bum around the town for a bit. That's why it caught me off guard when, all of a sudden, I caught a glimpse of a sweet smile and heard a lovely voice singing, and found myself chasing after Maryrose every chance I could get. All those little plans I had got changed around every time I thought I had a chance at spending just a little more time together. A perfect, innocent, little summer crush and then… just as quickly as it had come… a plane ride took it away again.

I sat on the plane ride home writing, with a tear in my eye, the words that now make up this tune. Years later, this is still one of my personal favorites to play and to reminisce over. Maryrose, the song, reminded me why I wanted to be a songwriter. Maryrose, the muse, reminded me to be the kind of man that treats a woman with respect and makes sure she knows she is valuable for as long as you have the chance & the privilege.
