Once upon a time, I set out on a cruise. I went without expectation and aimed simply for relaxation and to maybe make a few new friends. What I found was different than I could have ever expected. Sure, the first day was full of new friendships and simple good times, but that second day…
Day 2 I found myself staring into the eyes of a beautiful young woman as she strode toward me, confidently with just a hint of timidity. To this day I'm not quite sure how but I found myself swept completely off my feet. I spent the next days trying to orchestrate every moment to bring us closer together, to spend time together, and to get to know each other better. What I found was something I hadn't seen looking back at me in what felt like ages and I knew I would spend every minute and every bit of everything I had trying to make sure that something was something I never had to say goodbye to. And the craziest part? It seemed she was doing the same thing and I hadn't even played guitar or sung for her yet.
I've spent most of my life thinking “that's how I'll get a woman interested in me - a smooth song with just a hint of a good buzz thrown in the mix.” But here I was and, somehow, I was good enough just as I was. Without song or guitar, without cocktails or wine, I had found a woman that looked at me with eyes sparkling, full of anticipation and excitement the way I'd dreamed of for years.
What was born from that experience was a song. I shared it with her. Now I share it with you in the very same form and format. I hope you enjoy the Sofa Sessions recording of one of my newest songs. This song is near and dear to me. Trust me, you're not going to want lo leave this one "On the Boat!"
